Not languishing but busy

That's my excuse for not posting anything recently. I'm working on a couple of books and also on updating my portfolio and a new set of cards for my etsy shop.

Meanwhile here is some of my sketchbook work:

Weekly round up 13th July 2014

What a busy week! Chickpea finished nursery forever and so there have been much shenanigans going on. I've been Daily Doodle-ing and also some personal pieces too.

From my sketchbook for @Daily__Doodle with Caterpillar Books:

The topic was ROAR
I tried some new pens and then ended up doing three different versions for this

I obviously enjoyed that topic!

Then the next Daily doodle was HOOT!

Up next was ZOOM! I found the time to colour this one.

The last Daily doodle I had time to do was PEEK-A-BOO:
Chickpea had fun trying to find all the squirrels.

Then there were a few other pieces I completed as presents this week.

A couple of pictures were for Chickpea's teachers as a thank you. They have been fabulous and it was very sad to say goodbye to them:

Finally a friend's son was baptised on Saturday so a picture for them too:

Round up 15th June

This week has been a bit less busy and I managed 4 out of 5 Daily Doodles plus an extra for Judith Kerr's birthday (The Tiger Who Came To Tea) which was Saturday.

From my sketchbook...

The Emperor's New Clothes:

The Little Mermaid:
This is a homage to my favourite mermaid, Iris, from Oliver and The Seawigs by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre (you can follow them on Twitter @philipreeve1 and @jabberworks). A brilliant book!

The Princess and The Pea:
If it's not peas keeping her awake, it's princes waking her up!

The Tortoise and The Hare:
This lead to me having to remember/make up the story to tell Chickpea. Which of course means it's her favourite story ever (until the next one)!

Finally it was Judith Kerr's 91st birthday on Saturday 14th June and I wanted to do something as The Tiger Who Came To Tea (amongst her other books) is such a well known classic and iconic book.

She's a fascinating person and there was a brilliant documentary on her last year (I think it was BBC but I'm happy to be corrected). If it's still around do watch it.

Daily Doodle Round Up

It's been a bit tricky but I've managed to do all the @Daily__Doodle suggestions this week (and the one from last week too), just! This week was Classic children's books. I may have gone slightly off piste with some of the topics but that doesn't really matter. It's all about the taking part!

If you've not had a go they are on Facebook and Twitter. Pick up a pen, pencil, crayon or whatever you like and join in the fun.

Lawrence The Red Bear:

The Very Hungry Caterpillar:

The Cat In The Hat:

Room On The Broom:

Peter Rabbit:

The Tiger Who Came To Tea:

It starts again on Monday morning. Pens at the ready!
