Not languishing but busy

That's my excuse for not posting anything recently. I'm working on a couple of books and also on updating my portfolio and a new set of cards for my etsy shop.

Meanwhile here is some of my sketchbook work:

Badger, Badger, Badger... No mushroom

I've been busy completing a commission for a family portrait which has been lots of fun. I will be able to share it soon once it's been given as a present!

It was lovely to hand over the finished work as the person who commissioned it was over the moon. Always a good feeling!

I'm currently working on some prints for my shop but in the meantime here's some sketches and sneak peaks!

I may have been watching the Brothers Grimm film again. I do love it!

I shall be working on a pirate picture once I finish the current piece.

These littl firey chaps turned up in my sketchbook. As did a few squirrels!

A cheeky fairy

This piece came about while watching the Brothers Grimm. The pose of the bear was inspired by one of the character in the film.

I liked the sketch so much I've decided to make it into a larger piece and here it is on my lightbox.

I do like a good colour swatch!

Here's a peak at the inked up bear:

Here's a peak at the badger!

After drawing the badger I was reminded of the Badger, Badger, Badger, Mushroom song (by Weebl - I'm sure you can find it on YouTube as I did) which I then showed to Chickpea who thinks it's hilarious.

Thanks for stopping by.

The start of Advent 2014

This week I have been mainly getting over a rather nasty bout of the flu. Chickpea did ask me what a good flu was.

I've also managed to do an entire 7 days of the #illo_advent challenge over on Twitter. Here's a round up so far from my sketchbook.

Day 1: Wheee!

Day 2: watch where you're going with that!

Day 3: Star of wonder, star of light!

Day 4: Party Season

Day 5: Spending time with a friend.

Day 6: Love snow

Day 7:While shepherds washed their socks...
I cannot help but want to sing the wrong words to this carol every time I hear it!

I shall leave you with that in your head...

While shepherds washed their socks by night,
All seated round the tub,
The angel of the Lord came down ,
And gave them all a scrub!

Thanks for stopping by!

Weekly Round Up 21st June

It's been a busy week as usual. I'm pulling together the work I've been doing for a particular piece. I have managed a few Daily Doodles too.

All the pictures below are from my sketchbook and photographed badly with my phone!

Sneaky Peek at the large piece I'm working on:

This little character appeared in my sketchbook this week - Grumpy Squirrel:

Daily Doodle topic - Spot the Dog (Eric Hill the creator of Spot passed away recently), mine's an outtake from the books:

I also had a morning a bit like this:

Another Daily Doodle - Boy and a Cardboard Box. Paper plates are the way to go:

There was a bluebell fairy who wished everyone a good Friday:

Friday's Daily Doodle was Caterpillar Girl. I managed to get some colour on this one:

Finally Grumpy Squirrel has been doing interpretive dance across my sketchbook:

I have the feeling I'm going to have to give grumpy squirrel a different name as he is likely to keep reappearing in my sketchbook! Any name suggestions for grumpy squirrel are welcome.
